Message on pumpfuel at 18psi, I can also get 28MPG in a lean burn running ~10"Hg vacuum. :)

I could get even more with wider spark gap - she starts to break up around 19:1.

I've also got an idea of using water injection during lean burn. Since lean burning is a lot hotter, you can use that heat to vaporize water, which has an expansion ratio of ~1:1700 - nearly that of oxidizing gasoline. The additional pressure generated by vaporization should create an increase in torque/power. If it works, it would mean less fuel = more heat = greater vaporization = more cylinder pressure. Obviously there has to be a limit, which through my testing thus far, would be the ability to ignite and combust as completely as possible the small quantity of fuel in the mixture. However, water is a lot less costly than fuel - if you can reduce fuel consumption by adding water and maintain at least as much power as burning a typical quantitiy of fuel, the wallet should be a lot happier. :) Who would have thought adding water to an engine's chemistry would allow the production of more power? It shouldn't be too difficult to imagine that the same technology can be used to also increase fuel economy.

Simply put, it is possible to have both performance and economy that exceeds the current boundaries at both ends. Economy and performance are two diametrically different engine conditions - each of which can be tailored independently of each other through proper design.
